The Fremont County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit was developed on May 26, 2005 and is currently operated by one Patrol Deputy with the possibility of expansion in the future as needed. The unit was developed to address two growing areas of concern in Fremont County .
FIRST: Fremont County is a vastly growing community and, therefore, boasts an increasing amount of vehicular traffic. One of the most received calls by the Sheriff's Office has been from citizens complaining of traffic problems in their neighborhood.
SECOND: Fremont County 's growth has brought numerous construction companies and contractors to the area. These companies are required to have their equipment registered. Unfortunately many contractors have not registered their equipment or have allowed their registrations to become delinquent.
In the past, traffic complaints from citizens were forced to become a lesser priority for the Sheriff's Office due to call volume and the lack of a Deputy to address these specific issues. The enforcement of Equipment Registration has also never been enforced before for much of the same reasons.
