The most recent Board of County Commissioners action, and at the request of Sheriff Jim Beicker, was taken on August 14, 2012 with the suspension of the fire ban. The City of Cañon City and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) also suspended their fire bans effective August 14th as well.
On June 26, 2012, the Board of County Commissioners voted to adopt Ordinance No. 2012-1 presented by Sheriff Jim Beicker. The Ordinance outlines the various restrictions and exceptions of each fire ban level.
Please always check with your local fire districts, and state agencies (BLM and Forest Service), to make sure they do not have any fire ban restrictions in effect.
