Fremont County has been approved as a Medical Reserve Corp (MRC) Site. The MRC program was launched officially as a national, community based movement in July 2002. It was formed in respone to President Bush's call for all Americans to offer volunteer service to their communities. Colorado currently has 13 MRC units.
The volunteer unit is being formed to give Fremont County emergency official a post of medical and non-medical workers to help in case of man-made or natural disasters such as pandemic flu, floods, fires, etc.
In order to volunteer, one must fill out a Volunteer Application form (also available at the Fremont County Public Health Nursing Service).
Volunteers will get basic CPR and first aid training. NIMS (National Incident Management System) training will be available on line and we will work with volunteer on that.
