A school is any facility maintained for educational purposes for 6 or more persons and may be public, private, parochial or denominational, but does not include Child Care Facilities which are inspected using a different set of regulations.
RULES & REGULATIONS GOVERNING SCHOOLS IN THE STATE OF COLORADO recommends that all schools with laboratories, and/or engaging in industrial arts or hazardous vocational activities should be inspected a minimum of once per year (typically high schools and middle schools). All other schools should be inspected a minimum of once per three years (typically elementary schools). There are approximately 18 schools in Fremont County.
Remember an inspection is a snapshot of the day and time of the inspection. On any given day, a school may have greater or fewer violations than observed during an inspection and may not be representative of the overall, long-term condition of the school.
Although schools are inspected by the health department, it is the school’s responsibility, including the principal, staff and teachers, to ensure that proper procedures are followed.
